Shrii Shrii Anandamurti established the Women’s Welfare Department of Ananda Marga on the 23rd May, 1965, in Patna, India.  It aims to promote the all round well being of women and encourage leadership, as its management is exclusively female. As 2015 is the 50th anniversary of this auspicious event, all sisters and Didis were invited to an open global gathering to commemorate Baba’s legacy to us and the world.

Approximately 450-500 Didis and sisters gathered, with the hall was filled to capacity for each collective Dharmacakra kiirtan and meditation.

During the program, 150 shawls were distributed to impoverished local villagers to help them prepare for the cooler temperatures of winter, and 33 local people received a warm meal.

The workshops were all well attended and well presented, as were morning and evening programs. The spiritual vibration generated by the kiirtan and meditation was powerful and uplifting.

At the conclusion of the program, a rally was organized in the nearby town, with over 250 participating and it was incredibly powerful and empowering. One of the local organizers came up to us with a big smile and said this was the first time ladies from her village participated in something like this.
